Main Street Music Festival - July 1, 2014 in Entertainment, Oshkosh

The Main Street Music Festival will bring in hundreds of artists to downtown Oshkosh July 30th to August 4th. This five-day music festival was created to celebrate the remarkable creative community of musicians, artists, and entertainers in the Oshkosh area, to bring in new sounds from musicians outside of the Fox Valley, and of course, to have a great time.
The festival is held during EAA to give tourists and Oshkosh residents a chance to enjoy great entertainment while supporting our local businesses. This will be the second year of the event, which has expanded to include additional events and venues.
Tina Hyler has lived in Oshkosh for 13 years and went to the first Main Street Music Festival last year. She said that she enjoyed the variety of venues and genres of music that were offered. She also mentioned that she appreciated the cost, “You can’t beat free music!”
Ben Vosters, the founder of The Main Street Music Festival said, “Music stretched down from the North end of Main Street and then turned right and headed down the Riverwalk.”
Vosters was thrilled with the outcome of the first year and expects this year to be even bigger as they are adding a Main Stage to feature some of the area’s top performers like Cool Waters Band, The Traveling Suitcase, Dead Horses and M.A. Johnson.
Tim McIlree, who plays fiddle and mandolin for Dead Horses said, “The Main Street Music Festival brings music lovers of all genres together and people are able to discover a lot of local music that they might never have been exposed to.” He urges everyone to come check it out and learn that local music can be as good, if not better than, a lot of our favorite radio bands.
Not only will the line-up feature more national touring artists like Allie Kral, Janis Wallin, Joe Hettinga and Pete Koopmans, this year Party.0 and DJ Beats2Go will be providing events for those who aren’t old enough to enter bars. A dance party for ages 16-20 will be held on Friday August 1 at the Oshkosh Masonic Center and will feature games, food and competitions as well as great music.
