I just realized that I haven't made a single post in the Festival Activity in a loooooong time.
The festival is ready to hit HARD this year. We have added a Main Stage in addition to the fun that we had last year. Join us for five nights of music and help us grow this event bigger EVERY year. Check out the Schedule, Promo Video, Article in The Oshkosh SCENE and help us spread the word with your friends and family. See you in two weeks! -Ben I need to start out by thanking all the artists, venues, sponsors, comedians, volunteers, stage crew, video crew, performers, venue staff and music fans. Pretty much a big thank you goes out to EVERYONE. The hard work was certainly worth it and it only took a pot of coffee and a handful of ibuprofen to get me back to work this morning...errr....afternoon.
Look for the Official Post Festival Video from Weatherbull (official festival video crew) to come soon. Those guys worked their butts off all weekend long and they fought their way through aches, pains and hangovers. I can't wait to see what they put together because the Weatherbull team has some serious talent on their roster. Make sure to check out the video on the main page while you wait for their new one. T-shirts sold FAST and we ran a little short on certain sizes. We are looking to do a second printing to make sure that everyone that wanted a shirt can get one. Please message Ben Vosters ([email protected]) with the size(s) you desire, email and phone number and we will get you in high fashion right away. There are also a few prints left for sale. ALL purchases come with a bonus wristband. T-shirts and Prints are $10 each. A portion of the print sales go to Matt Braun (official festival artist) for designing the original image. We are already working hard on next years festival and smaller events all year long. Expansion Theory Productions has grown in a big way and your support all weekend long was greatly appreciated. Now it's time to completely reface the Expansion Theory Home Page and continue with the positive forward momentum all year long. Thanks again for a great weekend Oshkosh. -Ben After the success and fun of last night it's time to amp things up a little bit. The festival grows from 8 venues to 15. In addition to more diverse and original music there are Interactive Improvisational Comedy Shows at The Backlot Comedy House and Classic Cinema at Time Community Theater.

Our final volunteer meeting is tonight and it's time to get the last details figured out. Thursday is coming fast but there is still plenty of time left to work after we relax at the festival pre-party. See you at Dockside Tavern for some live music starting at 6pm. -Ben Big things have been happening this week. The festival kicks off with a pre-party at the Dockside Tavern Wednesday from 6-9pm with Taylor Jacobson. It's an early night so that you have plenty of time to rest and get ready for the full weekend run.

A big thanks goes out to the Rick and Len Show on 105.7 WAPL for inviting me to their studio this morning for a LIVE radio interview. Those guys have the best morning show out there and when you mix it with rock it only gets better. I'll try to get a archive of the segment so that you can listen it if you happened to miss it. On the topic of radio, you can hear an ad for the festival on 96.9 The Fox and B104.7 has been giving us tons of shout-outs too. The schedule has been slightly altered in order to accommodate the new artists. Speaking of new artists, we now have 129 confirmed performers and that number is sure to jump over 130 in the next hour or so. Look for an increased Downtown presence for the festival during the Farmer's Market and Gallery Walk featured on Saturday starting at 8am. Keep in mind that starting on Thursday you can also get a special Main Street Music Festival edition of the monthly t-shirt at Satori Imports for making a purchase of $25 or more. I'm in the process of creating a FAQ page to cover all the general questions that may come up. The FAQ will be updated on a daily basis with the common questions Thanks again for your support. -Ben There have been some major updates to the main page. The most important one is the promotional video from Weatherbull. The video is featured up front and center on the main page as well as below this message. A big thanks goes out to those guys for putting together the video as well as being on staff to do event coverage all weekend for future videos. The music in the video is from The Traveling Suitcase. They perform at Barley & Hops on Friday August 2. DO NOT miss their show because it's going to be a night to remember. There are also four new artist videos on the main page. Watch, listen and enjoy the original talent that is primed to celebrate the Oshkosh Main Street Music Festival with us. The schedule app is now active. Browse the schedule any way you want. Let's have fun and enjoy the amazing variety of fun opportunities that this city provides. -Ben Support Oshkosh Main Street Music Festival by purchasing a wristband at select retailers downtown.
Five dollars (cash only) gets you a snazzy adornment for your wrist at Satori Imports, House of Heroes, Jambalaya or The Exclusive Company. The festival is only seven days away and your support is greatly appreciated. Each wristband purchased makes you eligible for special prizes and discounts during the festival. It's almost time to party. -Ben We have added the final new venues and sponsors to the festival. The schedule is just about complete and we were able to squeeze in quite a few more artists. The total number of performers at the festival is now 107.
The main page features performance videos from Greg Waters, The Midwestern Charm and Men in Suits. Alexander Jay also made a promotional video for the festival. The schedule app is sooooo close to the release date. We want to make sure it's as close to the final schedule as possible before we release it. -Ben |
